A List of Underrated Actors
68
Tom WIlkinson
The first time I saw Tom WIlkinson in a movie was when he played General Cornwallis in The Patriot. He has a certain type of anger and intensity that is really hard to find in an actor. He also can come off as really truthful and honest. He has since picked up some fame and is now regularly getting parts, although he never gets the credit he deserves.
My favorite things he's done: Carmine Falcone in Batman Begins, Father Moore in The Exorcism of Emily Rose, General Friedrich Fromm in Valkyrie
Eddie Izzard
I wasn't a little iffy involving Izzard right off the bat, because the first thing I saw was his standup, and although funny, in fact it is really good, he is a crossdresser and does his standup as such. That's fine and all, but I don't know it is strange. Anyway, then he starred in The Riches, which was a tv show that only lasted two seasons but was awesome. They were very good at adding twists and keeping the viewer on their toes. Izzard really shined in this show and although the show got canceled, his career has taken off. He is both a great actor and capable of being very funny.
My favorite things he's done: obviously, The Riches where he played Wayne Milloy/Doug Rich, Across the Universe he was Mr. Kite, and we're getting a little theme General Erich Fellgiebel from Valkyrie
Zach Galifianakis
Galifianakis must be annoying or hard to work with or something because everyone knows he's funny but he can never stick in anything. He makes guest spots on all kinds of things, from Tim and Eric Awesome Show to Reno 911. He has been in movies but they are always side parts that aren't very important to the plot. He is rediculously underutilized, although The Hangover which just came out has him cast in a pretty major role so let's hope for a turn around in his fortune because I have never scene him do anything that he wasn't the funniest part of.
My favorite things he's done: He did some adds for some kind of Vodka that never really aired nationally, I think you can find them on Youtube, try to because they are hilarious, He was Luke in Out Cold and was easily, and I mean easily the best part of What Happens in Vegas
Paul Bettany
Bettany is very borderline for this list as he is definitly starting to get appeciated. He definitly had trouble getting into bigger movies or getting important roles earlier on in his career but at this point always gets good parts. He was one of the main rumors to play The Joker in The Dark Knight before Heath Ledger was announced. Bettany is great because he can play evil insanely well, he can be downright frightening, but also can be goofy and silly. He is very diverse, and deserves the fame he is starting to get.
My Favorite Things he's in: He was Silas in The Da Vinci Code, he was Bill Cox in Firewall, He was Charles or better known as Russell Crowe's imaginary best friend in A Beautiful Mind.
